Can your bread baking skills make the cut? Would you like to bake bread to make bread? Chillicothe, Missouri, the Home of Sliced Bread, invites you to participate in our Home of Sliced Bread - Bread Baking Contest. Top bakers could take home a cash prize of $100. The contest will be held during Chillicothe's Annual Chautauqua in the Park festival, Saturday, September 8, 2012, in the Rotary Shelter House at Simpson Park. There is a $1 per loaf entry fee and contestants may register upon arrival. The best bread bakers will receive cash prizes. Categories include Best Bread, Best Sweet Bread and Most Sliceable. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and judging will begin at noon. Contest winners will be announced and prizes awarded from the main stage at Chautauqua at 1:30 p.m. Entries can be any loaf of home-made, oven-baked breads. A panel of judges will select the winning entry on pre-determined criteria including taste, texture, appearance and slice-ability. The decision of the judges will be final. Entries must be wrapped in clear plastic wrap or in a clear zipper bag. Recipes must be included for each entry. If you would like to be crowned the Best Bread Baker in the Home of Sliced Bread, we will see you on September 8th at 11 a.m. at the Home of Sliced Bread Contest at Chautauqua in the Park in Simpson Park.
